Content Writer | Copywriter | GPT Alternative

A writer by profession and passion, I have an arsenal of the finest words at my disposal. Nine years of industry experience at some of the world’s biggest brands have helped me hone my skills to the point of near perfection. Technology, F&B, travel, and entertainment are just a few of the verticals in which I have exhaustive content writing and copywriting experience - and there is no shortage of business leaders who’ll attest to the quality of my work.

Simple to read, but substantive with a dash of humour, my unique style of presenting facts has won me the prestigious “Best Food Review” award from the Food Blogger’s Association of India. My articles have been featured on Urbane Magazine, Business Insider, and India.com. In addition to writing, I’m a skilled graphic designer, photographer, team lead, & prompt engineer.

Experience

My professional career, while challenging, has contributed immeasurably to my learning. Team management, public relations, data analytics, scripting, content planning, and social media strategy are all skills I’ve acquired over the course of my work. Here’s a more comprehensive breakdown of my industry experience:

Tata Digital

Senior Content Manager (July 2020 - January 2024)

An integral part of Tata Digital’s Brand team, I helped launch India’s first superapp at the 2022 IPL (Indian Premier League). The campaign was an immense success, and was seen by an estimated audience in the 50 million+ range. Following the launch, my primary role entailed planning content calendars by analysing data and predicting consumer behaviour and industry trends. My team and I would then create and publish long-form articles basis these insights, with the objective of educating customers and facilitating online purchases.

I was responsible for the content team’s tech vertical, although I also contributed significantly to the F&B space. Supervising and mentoring a small team of writers was most rewarding part of my role, and over the course of just 3 years, I was promoted from a consultant to a Senior Manager. Thanks to my crisp, accurate, and engaging articles, I was honoured with the Fireball award by the CEO.

Disney+ Hotstar

Senior Executive | Copywriter (January 2019 - July 2020)

I played an instrumental role in the successful launch of Disney+ Hotstar, one of India’s leading streaming services, in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic. As a copywriter in the performance marketing team, I was tasked with converting non-paying users on the app to paid subscribers. This entailed the use of advanced analytics tools to identify users basis various parameters, and then convincing them to sign-up with the help of targeted and meticulously crafted push notifications and emailers.

Another critical role was to prevent churn i.e., the retention of existing subscribers whose plans were due to expire. This too entailed crafting extremely personalised and targeted copies basis the user’s watch history. My copies were extremely well received, and one was even featured in a post by Social Samosa. This resulted in my promotion from a consultant to a Senior Executive within mere months.

Communicate India

Writer (January 2018 - February 2019)

Agency experience is invaluable when it comes to creative growth, and my work at this mid-sized public relations firm was no exception. As part of the in-house content team, I was responsible for working with companies to ensure that their branding and messaging objectives were properly communicated across print and digital platforms. The clients I worked with were in the pharmaceutical, tech, real-estate, hospitality, healthcare, and tourism spaces, and included household names like Hard Rock Cafe, Blaupunkt, Reliance Jewels, and Hershey’s.

This job was particularly challenging as it required extreme diligence and knowledge of a diverse set of subjects, many of which I had no prior professional experience with. In addition to content writing, which was my core role, I also assisted in the content marketing and social media strategy of what would be the first product launch of my career, EUME bags.

The Bombay Report

Co-Founder | Lead Writer (2016 - 2020)

I was a founding member of The Bombay Report (now defunct) a hyper-local award-winning restaurant review website. At its peak, the site had a monthly traffic of around 20,000 unique visitors and had a passionate following in Mumbai. As the lead writer of the company, I managed a small team of freelancers and oversaw the timely publication of several humorous and engaging reviews and articles.

The website was bestowed with the prestigious “Best Food Review” award from the Food Blogger’s Association of India in 2018, and some of our articles were published as featured stories on Urbane Magazine. In addition to written content, we also produced a video series on the best burgers in Mumbai and wrote songs about the places and culture of the city. Our work brought us to the attention of several PR agencies and restaurateurs alike, as everyone wanted their restaurants to be featured on our website.

Discovery

Design Consultant (June 2017 - January 2018)

Serving in dual roles as a graphic designer and sales strategy consultant, my work at Discovery’s brand solutions team was challenging and varied. Creatively, I was responsible for visualising and designing promotional material like emailers, cards, and posters that were used in various sales and marketing campaigns. From a sales strategy perspective, I helped in the conceptualisation of Advertiser Funded Programming. This entailed creating and airing special, long-form TV shows designed to promote an individual brand for IPs like Breaking Point & Queens Of Comedy.

My primary channel of focus was Animal Planet although I was also roped into pitch presentations for the Discovery Channel and TLC due to my keen eye for design and passion for the content. My insights and creativity help my team contribute immensely to the overall success of the sales department.

Star TV

Strategy Consultant (October 2015 - May 2016)

My first job after graduating college was in the product & revenue strategy team for Star TV’s Hindi movie channels Star Gold and Movies Ok. The primary role entailed conceptualising content-integrated brand solutions for Hindi blockbusters like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. What this means that my team and I would identify brands for whom sponsorships would fit in seamlessly with the content of a certain IP, and support our sales department in selling inventory to the said brands.

I also served as an in-house graphic designer where I helped create pitch-decks for the sales team to support their activities. Additionally, I worked in creating and disseminating weekly newsletters to customers to keep them updated about new movie premieres and TAM ratings of past IPs.
